1. The Atmosphere & Vibe

Nordic Bloom is located in a small shopping center on the corner of Solomon Mahlanghu Drive and Olympus Drive in Faerie Glen, Pretoria. The unassuming storefront doesn’t look like a place where you can get cannabis products when you first see it. Inside, it’s colourful and welcoming. Behind the counter are usually two bud tenders. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and will be able to assist experienced recreational users as well as people who have never used a cannabis product before.

• Style: Industrial chic. As close to a cannabis dispensary as you will get in Pretoria.
• Comfort: The space is welcoming, clean, comfortable, and safe. There is no seating. This is not a lounge, and anything you obtain from the club will have to be taken home for personal use.
• Music/Noise: No music or noise. The shop is in a quieter section of the shopping center.

2. The Menu (The “Private Stash”)

In the store, you will find a single counter and a small fridge where all the available products are displayed. To the right above the counter is an electronic display showing what is currently available in exchange for club contributions. Flour is displayed in clear glass containers with magnifying viewports in the lids. Staff will be happy to help you take a closer look at any of the flowers on display. They normally have three flour varieties on display: Greenhouse, Indoor, and Medical-Grade.

There are also tinctures, cookies, gummies, fudge, pre-rolled joints, and a variety of dinks that contain both CBD and THC. Strengths of THC content vary by product, but the staff will be more than happy to explain each product. I have personally obtained many grams of flour, pre-rolled joints, as well as some drinks (they have a delicious THC iced tea), and a THC tincture for personal use. The THC tincture was R899 for 30ml, and it contains 3000mg of THC. Great little addition to my homemade ginger beer.

• Flower Quality: Flower quality is very good. Everything will get you high.
• Variety: Every time I have been there, there have been 20+ flour strains to choose from.
• Extras: There are also concentrate vaporizers and refill cartridges, rolling papers, and stash tubes for joints and other accessories you might need to enjoy your cannabis in the privacy of your own home.
• Pricing: Flour contributions start at R60 per gram for greenhouse up to R150 for medical-grade flour. Almost every strain you can get is also available in pre-rolled joints, each weighing 1g. The iced tea I normally get is R75. In comparison to other clubs in the area, Nordic Bloom is very fairly priced.

3. Facilities & Gear

Nordic Bloom is a cannabis club that operates as a dispensary. That means that you cannot use what you buy at the Nordic Bloom location, but that you can take whatever you get from the club home for personal use. Thus, there is no seating or lounge area.

• Refreshments: No. Whatever you decide to get refreshment-wise is for you to take home.

• Staff Knowledge: Budtenders are very friendly and more than happy to guide you if you are unsure about anything.
• Sign-up Process: Just fill out the needed form on the tablet provided to you, provide your identification (ID or driver’s license), and a staff member will help you get signed up in-store. Sign-up takes less than 5 minutes.
• Crowd: Most times I get there, I am the only person in the store. But every time I have run into someone else in the club they are friendly and we exchange some pleasantries or product recommendations.

#2 – The Jazzfarm Social Club

1. The Atmosphere & Vibe

The Jazzfarm Social Club is the first cannabis club in South Africa. I’ve been a member since August 2019. The best part about The Jazzfarm is that you can easily make your contributions and claim products online. Packaging is discreet, and you can order flowers, vape cartridges, edibles, oils, and pre-rolls, all delivered via courier to your home. You get one cherry for every rand you contribute to the club. You can then use cherries to order product/s.

• Style: Online order convenience and delivered to your door.
• Comfort: It doesn’t get more comfortable than having your cannabis products delivered to your home.
• Music/Noise: Unless you are listening to your favourite playlist while you place your order online, you will not hear any music.

2. The Menu (The “Private Stash”)

• Pricing: Greenhouse flower is 250-450 cherries per 5g. Indoor flower is 650-950 for 5g. Edibles, oil and tinctures are all affordable in comparison to other cannabis clubs.

The Jazzfarem is an online cannabis club. They also host events (that you can only get invited to if you are a member of the club) and are part of Fields of Green, an organization that has done a lot for cannabis culture and legalization in South Africa. #3 – 420 Twig on Rubenstein, Moreleta Park, Pretoria

1. The Atmosphere & Vibe

420 Twig on Rubenstein is the most like a lounge of all the clubs reviewed here. There is a pool table, a table tennis table, outdoor and indoor seating, and a wide selection of flowers to choose from. All the flower is on display in jars so that you can see and view before making your choice. You will have to register as a member before being able to enter the cannabis club. Staff will quickly help you sign up, and you will receive a member club card via email. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy a toke with friends.

• Style: Smoking lounge and chill space.
• Comfort: If hanging out in a more social space while you enjoy your cannabis is your thing, 420 Twig is for you. If you and a couple of friends want to meet somewhere to smoke a bong or a joint, 420 Twig is for you.
• Music/Noise: There is music playing, and later at night, when the club fills up, it can become quite loud.

2. The Menu (The “Private Stash”)

There must be over 40 strains of flower available and on display at 420 Twig in Rubenstein. You will see a wide variety: Outdoor to indoor and hydro. There are also some edibles available, mostly in the form of gummies and brownies. You can get a clean bong to enjoy your product from the club. Play some pool with friends, or a game of two of table tennis, while smoking a joint.

This is like hanging out at a bar, but instead of selling alcohol, they share weed with members of the club. There is no alcohol allowed on the premises, but there are cool drinks and bottles of water for sale. I always enjoy a nice cold Stoney.

• Flower Quality: There are simply too many to try. The strains that I have had have been average, in a good way. Got me stoned, but nothing to write home about. But I’ve only tried 2 of the strains of the 40+ they have there.
• Variety: 40+ strains to choose from. Nice sticky outdoor, or those solid as a rock indoor nugs and everything in between.
• Extras: Topicals, soap, tinctures, cannabis oil, dab, and Raw cones.
• Pricing: Very much depends on the strain you want. Averages between R75-R180 per gram.

3. Facilities & Gear

You will find everything you need to enjoy a bong or a joint at 420 Twig. There are clean bongs you can use, and you can buy pre-rolled joints. You can browse and smell strains for an hour before selecting one to enjoy. There is plenty of space to sit and chill in the garden or outside on the roof terrace area.
