Ubisoft and Lucasfilm Games have joined forces to bring fans an exciting new addition to the Star Wars gaming universe. Today at the Xbox Games Showcase, the companies announced the upcoming release of Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world action-adventure game set in the beloved Star Wars galaxy. Scheduled to launch in 2024 on Xbox Series X|S consoles, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC through Ubisoft Connect, Star Wars Outlaws promises to offer an unprecedented experience for Star Wars enthusiasts.

Developed primarily by Massive Entertainment, Star Wars Outlaws will immerse players in a captivating narrative that unfolds between the events of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back™ and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi™. In this period of turmoil, as the Galactic Empire relentlessly hunts down the Rebel Alliance, the criminal underworld thrives. Players will step into the shoes of a resourceful scoundrel named Kay Vess, portrayed by the talented Humberly González. Alongside her loyal companion, Nix (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker from Star Wars: The Bad Batch™), Kay embarks on an audacious mission, attempting to pull off one of the most daring heists ever seen in the Outer Rim. Driven by the desire to secure a fresh start in life, players will accompany Kay and Nix as they engage in battles, execute daring thefts, and outsmart the galaxy’s crime syndicates, ultimately earning their place among the galaxy’s most wanted.
Julian Gerighty, Creative Director at Massive Entertainment, expressed his excitement about creating the first open-world Star Wars game. When conceiving the concept, the team explored various settings and timelines before realizing the potential for a scoundrel’s journey. The game’s outlaws navigate their lives under the oppressive grip of the Empire, but they find opportunities for prosperity within the criminal underworld. Gerighty stated, “The time is ripe for a new outlaw to make their name, and Kay Vess is written in the stars.”
Douglas Reilly, the vice president of Lucasfilm Games, shared his enthusiasm for Star Wars Outlaws, emphasizing that it will be the first true open-world Star Wars game. He promised an action-adventure story brimming with new and familiar characters and planets from the Star Wars universe. Reilly commended the collaboration with Massive Entertainment, recognizing their expertise in crafting intricately detailed worlds. He eagerly anticipated the opportunity for fans to fully immerse themselves in the scoundrel fantasy of the Star Wars galaxy.
